Stag & Hen FAQ

Q: How do I check availability for my chosen date?

A: Please send an email with the date of your event, the approx number of guests, the number of shots you’d like per guest, your prefered start time between 10am and  2pm,  and  whether your party will be driving to us or coming on the train?

Q:Do I have to possess a current shotgun license to participate in any of your events?

A: No. We have an exemption certificate allowing us to provide clay pigeon shooting facilities to people who do not possess a shotgun certificate at the venues that we operate. However, if you are banned from using a firearm as a result of a custodial prison sentence, then you cannot shoot at any clay pigeon shoot in the United kingdom.
If you decide to take up the sport on a regular basis you’ll have to apply for & obtain a shotgun license.

Q: Is there an age limit?

A: No, but children who are too small will not be allowed to participate for safety reasons.

Q: Are you fully insured for the services that you offer?

A: Yes. Our insurance cover is provided by the N.F.U. We have £10,000,000 worth of public liability insurance.

Q: If I book an event and then cancel it will I lose my deposit?

A: Generally yes, but we will always be fair.

Q: I want to make a short notice booking, can I pay by debit / credit card over the phone?

A: Not usually, please email in the first place, no bookings are taken on the phone.

Q: At what time should I arrive for my booking?

A: At least 15 minutes before your start time. If you’ve not  made us aware that you’re on site within 15 minutes of your start time you may not be able to shoot & could lose your  booking.

It is your responsibility to make sure that you understand where the clay pigeon shooting is taking place. Directions can be sent via email to you. If you get lost on the day you can call our mobile number ( 07768 742117 ), but we cannot guarantee to answer the phone, or guide you to us. If you think your going to need to discuss directions with us please make sure you email, or phone at least 4 working days before the event.

Q: What will happen if I arrive late for my  booking?

A: You probably will not be able to shoot & your booking  will be void, there will be no re-booking or refund.  We’ll  try & fit you in, but cannot promise to. We won’t make other guests that have arrived on time, stand around waiting for someone who isn’t there.

Q: Why are the above two questions so strict, traffic is bad everywhere nowadays? It seems a little harsh & unfair!

A: It’s so that we have time to go through all of the relevant Health & Safety issues with you before you start, also we aren’t allowed to shoot later than our permitted hours at any of our venues under current planning legislation.

Q: What will happen if the number of guests in my party changes?

A: If there are a few more guests in your party we’ll try & fit them in, this isn’t usually a problem. If there are going to be less guests, you can find replacements yourself. As clearly shown in our event descriptions we only accept bookings for the minimum number of paying guests. Your booking receipt will show very clearly show all of the financial details for your booking.

Q: Can I have the postcode of the shoot to put in my satellite navigation system please?

A: There aren’t postcodes for Three Acres or Essex Shooting Ground. We don’t have post delivered there, they aren’t residential areas, so please use our directions.

Q: Can I book myself in provisionally, because I’m not sure what I’m doing on that date & if its raining I might not want to come?

A: When you book yourself or your group in its final, in order to get a booking confirmed you will have to pay a generally non-refundable deposit. If you find that you need to change dates then please email, or phone. If we can change your date, without it affecting anybody else ( usually means at least 21 days before the event ) then we will free of charge.

If you need to change dates less than 21 days prior to the event you will be charged a £10 re-booking fee per person subject to us being able to accept changes on your date. We will only accept a change of date once, without exception . We cannot accept any date changes within 72 hours of the booking, regardless of the reason, so please don’t ask.

We guarantee to do our best to  make sure that there is space for you on your chosen date ( we’ve never let anyone down so far ). This involves an instructor being booked ( that we have to pay for, whether you are there or not ) to cover the period of the day that you’ll be with us for.  If you simply just don’t turn up your booking will be lost. You’re still more than welcome to shoot at sometime in the future, but you’ll have to pay again.

If you want  confirmation of a  booking ( just to make 100% sure that there is no confusion  with the date in question ), please  send us a request by email including all of the relevant  details, booking date, name,  & booking time.

Q: What do I need to bring with me on the day?

A: Please dress for being outside in a grass field according to the time of year & what the weather is doing on the day. It’s always a good idea to bring a waterproof coat & boots, just in case you should need them.

Q: Can I bring spectators & my dog?

A: You’re welcome to bring spectators, they’ll need to purchase earplugs ( 50 pence per pair ). Dogs are not allowed, even if kept on a lead. Children under the age of 12 are not allowed on any of the premises at all, this is in the interests of Health & Safety. If you must bring them they should stay inside your vehicle, in the car park, supervised by another adult.

If you have any other questions please e-mail
